The Children

From The Bible

Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ...
(Deuteronomy 14:1 (to :))

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: ...

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
(I John 3:1 (to :), 2)

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
(Romans 8:16)

... heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; ...
(Romans 8:17 2nd heirs (to 2nd ;))

The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
(Job 33:4)

¶ And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. ...
(Luke 15:11–24 (to 1st .))

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. ...

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

... God gave it to Abraham by promise. ...

Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: ...
(Galatians 3:6, 7, 16, 17, 18 God, 21 (to :))

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; ...

Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
(Galatians 4:1, 3–6)

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
(Galatians 5:1)

... to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
(I Corinthians 8:6 to)

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, ...

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. ...

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: ...

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
(Ephesians 4:1, 4–7, 14, 15, 23, 24)

Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. ...

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
(Matthew 18:14, 20)

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. ...

When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
(John 9:1–3, 6, 7)

¶ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
(Matthew 4:23, 24)

And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judæa beyond Jordan; And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
(Matthew 19:1, 2)

... and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. ...

And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. ...

... ¶ And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. ...

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
(Luke 10:1 and, 9, 17, 19, 20)

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
(Genesis 1:27)

... the kingdom of God is within you.
(Luke 17:21 the)

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: ...
(I John 3:1 (to :))

The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
(Psalms 37:18)

SCIENCE AND HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES by MARY BAKER EDDY

n Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry. His origin is not, like that of mortals, in brute instinct, nor does he pass through material conditions prior to reaching intelligence. Spirit is his primitive and ultimate source of being; God is his Father, and Life is the law of his being.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 63:5)

Keep distinctly in thought that man is the offspring of God, not of man; that man is spiritual, not material; that Soul is Spirit, outside of matter, never in it, never giving the body life and sensation. It breaks the dream of disease to understand that sickness is formed by the human mind, not by matter nor by the divine Mind.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 396:26)

Man is the offspring, not of the lowest, but of the highest qualities of Mind.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 265:1–3)

XXIV. God, the divine Principle of man, and man in God’s likeness are inseparable, harmonious, and eternal. ... God is the parent Mind, and man is God’s spiritual offspring.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 336:25–26, 30)

Divine Love blesses its own ideas, and causes them to multiply, — to manifest His power. Man is not made to till the soil. His birthright is dominion, not subjection. He is lord of the belief in earth and heaven, — himself subordinate alone to his Maker. This is the Science of being.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 517:30)

Divine Science deals its chief blow at the supposed material foundations of life and intelligence.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 535:10–11)

The real man being linked by Science to his Maker, mortals need only turn from sin and lose sight of mortal selfhood to find Christ, the real man and his relation to God, and to recognize the divine sonship.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 316:3–7)

The transmission of disease or of certain idiosyncrasies of mortal mind would be impossible if this great fact of being were learned, — namely, that nothing inharmonious can enter being, for Life is God. Heredity is a prolific subject for mortal belief to pin theories upon; but if we learn that nothing is real but the right, we shall have no dangerous inheritances, and fleshly ills will disappear.

The enslavement of man is not legitimate. It will cease when man enters into his heritage of freedom, his God-given dominion over the material senses.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 228:3–13)

But this Mind creates no element nor symbol of discord and decay. God creates neither erring thought, mortal life, mutable truth, nor variable love.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 503:22)

Genesis i. 26. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

... “Let them have dominion.” Man is the family name for all ideas, — the sons and daughters of God. All that God imparts moves in accord with Him, reflecting goodness and power.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 515:11, 21)

God fashions all things, after His own likeness.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 516:9 (only))

Question. — What is man?

Answer. — Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements. The Scriptures inform us that man is made in the image and likeness of God. Matter is not that likeness. The likeness of Spirit cannot be so unlike Spirit. Man is spiritual and perfect; and because he is spiritual and perfect, he must be so understood in Christian Science. Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique. He is the compound idea of God, including all right ideas; the generic term for all that reflects God’s image and likeness; the conscious identity of being as found in Science, in which man is the reflection of God, or Mind, and therefore is eternal; that which has no separate mind from God; that which has not a single quality underived from Deity; that which possesses no life, intelligence, nor creative power of his own, but reflects spiritually all that belongs to his Maker.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 475:5–22)

Mortals are not fallen children of God. They never had a perfect state of being, which may subsequently be regained. ...

When speaking of God’s children, not the children of men, Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you;” that is, Truth and Love reign in the real man, showing that man in God’s image is unfallen and eternal.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 476:13–15, 28–32)

God created all through Mind, and made all perfect and eternal.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 205:12–13)

All things are created spiritually. Mind, not matter, is the creator. Love, the divine Principle, is the Father and Mother of the universe, including man.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 256:5)

There can be but one creator, who has created all. Whatever seems to be a new creation, is but the discovery of some distant idea of Truth; else it is a new multiplication or self-division of mortal thought, as when some finite sense peers from its cloister with amazement and attempts to pattern the infinite.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 263:20)

Man, created by God, was given dominion over the whole earth.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 545:10–11)
