Ps. 107:1–4 (to ;), 6

O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; ...

Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

... Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave itunto Hagar, ... and the child, and sent her away: ...

And she went, ... and lift up her voice, and wept.

... and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; ...

Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. ...

And God was with the lad; and he grew, ...

I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.

And David said unto him, How went the matter? ... And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, ... and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead ...

Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; ...

... ¶ And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son: ...

And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake? ...

... And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet. ...

Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, ... was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. ...

... ¶ And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually. ...

So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; ...

... ¶ Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. And he laid his hands on them, ...

Mark 4:30 (to 1st ?), 31, 32

¶ And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? ...

It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

Matt. 12:46–50

¶ While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

¶ And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, ... and he said unto him, Follow me. And he left all, ... and followed him. And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

¶ Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, ... ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, ...

And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: ...

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: ...

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? ...

And the King shall answer and say unto them, ... Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, ...

For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: ...

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, ... and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, ... Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

John 13:1 (to 2nd ,), 4, 5, 12 (to 1st ,), 12–16 2nd he (to 2nd ,), 34, 35

Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, ...

He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. ...

So after he had washed their feet, ... he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, ...

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. ...

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. ...

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, ...

... ¶ Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: ...

And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, ...

Heb. 13:1, 2

Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Gal. 3:26, 28

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. …

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Eph. 4:4–6

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

SCIENCE AND HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES by MARY BAKER EDDY

SH 332:4 Father-Mother

... Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation. As the apostle expressed it in words which he

quoted with approbation from a classic poet: “For we are also His offspring.”

SH 576:31–4

This human sense of Deity yields to the divine sense, even as the material sense of personality yields to the incorporeal sense of God and man as the infinite Principle and infinite idea, — as one Father with His universal family, held in the gospel of Love.

SH 515:21–22 Man

Man is the family name for all ideas, — the sons and daughters of God.

SH 63:5

In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry. His origin is not, like that of mortals, in brute instinct, nor

does he pass through material conditions prior to reaching intelligence. Spirit is his primitive and ultimate source of being; God is his Father, and Life is the law of his being.

SH 31:4–8, 10

Jesus acknowledged no ties of the flesh. He said: “Call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” Again he asked: “Who

is my mother, and who are my brethren,” implying that it is they who do the will of his Father. ... He recognized Spirit, God, as the only creator, and therefore as the Father of all.

SH 583:5 (only, to .), 6 the

Children of Israel. ... the offspring of Spirit, who, having wrestled with error, sin, and sense, are governed by divine Science; some of the ideas of God beheld as men, casting out error and healing the sick; Christ's offspring.

SH 540:1

Christ is the offspring of Spirit, and spiritual existence shows that Spirit creates neither a wicked nor a mortal man, lapsing into sin, sickness, and death.

SH 27:17–18

Jesus' parables explain Life as never mingling with sin and death.

SH 474:21

Is it possible, then, to believe that the evils which Jesus lived to destroy are real or the offspring of the divine will?

SH 122:1–7

The evidence of the physical senses often reverses the real Science of being, and so creates a reign of discord, — assigning seeming power to sin, sickness, and

death; but the great facts of Life, rightly understood, defeat this triad of errors, contradict their false witnesses, and reveal the kingdom of heaven, — the actual reign of harmony on earth.

SH 19:6

Jesus aided in reconciling man to God by giving man a truer sense of Love, the divine Principle of Jesus' teachings, and this truer sense of Love redeems man from the law of matter, sin, and death by the law of Spirit, — the law of divine Love.

SH 271:1–5

Christ's Christianity is the chain of scientific being reappearing in all ages, maintaining its obvious correspondence with the Scriptures and uniting all periods in the design of God.

SH 444:27

Immortals, or God's children in divine Science, are one harmonious family; but mortals, or the “children of men” in material sense, are discordant and ofttimes false brethren.

SH 196:31–2; 197:5–6

The press unwittingly sends forth many sorrows and diseases among the human family. It does this by giving names to diseases and by printing long descriptions which mirror images of disease distinctly in thought. ... A minutely described disease

costs many a man his earthly days of comfort.

SH 402:20–22

We say that one human mind can influence another and in this way affect the body, but we rarely remember that we govern our own bodies.

SH 392:11–12, 21, 24–27 Stand; 393:16–18

The physical affirmation of disease should always be met with the mental negation. ... If you decide that climate or atmosphere is unhealthy, it will be so to you. Your decisions will master you, whichever direction they take.

... Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously

. ...

Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God's government.

SH 248:15–16 (to 2nd ?)

What is the model before mortal

mind? Is it imperfection, joy, sorrow, sin, suffering?

SH 396:26–30

Keep distinctly in thought that man is the offspring of God, not of man; that man is spiritual, not material; that Soul is Spirit, outside of matter, never in it, never giving the body life and sensation.

SH 248:26–27 (to ,), 29

We must form perfect models in thought and look at them continually, ... Let unselfishness, goodness, mercy, justice, health, holiness, love — the kingdom of heaven — reign within us, and sin, disease, and death will diminish until they finally disappear.

SH 236:28

Jesus loved little children because of their freedom from wrong and their receptiveness of right. While age is halting between two opinions or battling with false beliefs, youth makes easy and rapid strides towards Truth.

SH 102:30–2; 103:6–9

Mankind must learn that evil is not power. Its so-called despotism is but a phase of nothingness. Christian Science despoils the kingdom of evil, and pre-eminently promotes affection and virtue in families and therefore in the community. ...

The destruction of the claims of mortal mind through Science, by which man can escape from sin

and mortality, blesses the whole human family.

SH 234:4

Whatever inspires with wisdom, Truth, or Love — be it song, sermon, or Science — blesses the human family with crumbs of comfort from Christ's table,

feeding the hungry and giving living waters to the thirsty.

SH 57:32; 58:5–7 Tones

To happify existence by constant intercourse with those adapted to elevate it, should be the motive of society. Unity of spirit gives new pinions to joy, or else joy's drooping wings trail in dust.

... Tones of the human mind may be different, but they should be concordant in order to blend properly.

SH 571:19

The cement of a higher humanity will unite all interests in the one divinity.

SH 518:13–19

God gives the lesser idea of Himself for a link to the greater, and in return, the higher always protects the lower. The rich in spirit help the poor in

one grand brotherhood, all having the same Principle, or Father; and blessed is that man who seeth his brother's need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another's good.

SH 241:13–14, 19

The Bible teaches transformation of the body by the renewal of Spirit. ...

The substance of all devotion is the reflection and demonstration of divine Love, healing sickness and destroying sin. Our Master said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

SH 276:4–9

When the divine precepts

are understood, they unfold the foundation of fellowship, in which one mind is not at war with another, but all have one Spirit, God, one intelligent source, in accordance with the Scriptural command: “Let this Mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

SH 583:12–19

Church. The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle.

The Church is that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick.

SH 136:1–5

Jesus established his church and maintained his mission on a spiritual foundation of Christ-healing. He taught his followers that his religion had a divine

Principle, which would cast out error and heal both the sick and the sinning.

SH 8:28–30; 9:5

We should examine ourselves and learn what is the affection and purpose of the heart, for in this way only can we learn what we honestly are. ...

The test of all prayer lies in the answer to these questions: Do we love our neighbor better because of this asking? Do we pursue the old selfishness

, satisfied with having prayed for something better, though we give no evidence of the sincerity of our requests by living consistently with our prayer? If selfishness has given place to kindness, we shall regard our neighbor unselfishly, and bless them that curse us; but we shall never meet this great duty simply by asking that it may be done. There is a cross to be taken up before we can enjoy the fruition of our hope and faith.

SH 469:30–5

With one Father, even God, the whole family of man would be brethren; and with one Mind and that God, or good, the brotherhood of man would consist of Love and Truth, and have unity of Principle and spiritual power which constitute divine Science.

SH 202:6

If men would bring to bear upon the study of the Science of Mind half the faith they bestow upon the so-called pains and pleasures of material sense,

they would not go on from bad to worse, until disciplined by the prison and the scaffold; but the whole human family would be redeemed through the merits of Christ, — through the perception and acceptance of Truth. For this glorious result Christian Science lights the torch of spiritual understanding.

Hymn. 464

Dear Master, may I follow thee / With holy, deep sincerity, / Forming each thought to Christly mold, / Feeling your peace my heart enfold.

Lead me to worship God aright, / In truth, in spirit, seek the light; / Loving pure good with heart and soul, / Loving each neighbor, perfect, whole.

May I perceive all being one, / Perfect Father, perfect son; / Let me hold fast this heavenly view, / Finding each day my life made new.

May I see mortal self dissolve, / Take up the cross with firm resolve, / Seeking the victor's crown each day, / Humble and loving all the way.

Hymn. 601

With one accord in one place, / In joyful praise of God's grace, / We join together in one divine embrace. / A rushing mighty Spirit / Descends from heaven, hear it: / “I have touched your heart / And made whole your heart, / Now go walk in My light.” / All can hear of it, / Hearts revealing it, / Gently moved by Your might.

Of one accord, of one Mind, / Our healing mission we find. / We pray together—our lives in worship bind. / The Comforter is with us; / Its presence here assures us: / “I am guiding you / And uniting you / Through the love of God's Son. / I am blessing you; / I am healing you; / I am making you one.”
